Big Cocaine Haul on Vanuatu Beach

Police in Vanuatu have found 120kg of cocaine on a beach in the biggest such haul in the Pacific nation's history. The cocaine was found wrapped in large plastic bags by locals near Eton Village and was tested by police in the capital, Port Vila.

The find came just days after Australia warned that international drug rings could move into Vanuatu if the Government followed through with plans to expel a unit of Australian police who have been helping law and order efforts.

Island drug fears

07.09.2004

International drug syndicates could further infiltrate the South Pacific if Vanuatu forced Australian police working there to leave, says Mick Keelty, head of the Australian Federal Police.

Vanuatu has ordered a small group of AFP officers stationed there to leave within 10 days.

The order follows the election of Prime Minister Serge Vohor and his Government on a platform that included ending foreign influence in the country.

Keelty said he was disappointed and hoped talks would have the decision reversed.

So wheres the coke??
I asked for the link to the story matching your post... if you cant do that then dont post it as a story without facts to back it up is just that.... a story....

      coincidental discovery?

i wonder what australia's interest is in keeping their task force in vanuatu? perhaps it has something to do with vanuatu's tax haven status (like the IRS in puerto rico) or with their own WOD.

i think it's likely that australia is following the US WOD path, only allowing certain drug sales that "protect" the economy by providing a nice AU dollar subsidy. do you think the analogy "the is US is to the carribean tax havens as AU is to pacific island tax havens" is valid?
