      Ubb Threads

Swims been playing around with the idea of having a local forum. Somewhere that he can just post his ideas and go back to them later.

He's bought a copy of UBB.Threads.. and is having trouble installing it as such. Unfortunately UBB.Threads has no idea on customer support. So he's forced to bring it to the attention of the hive perusers.

This is what happens during the starting off the install.php script.

Then..... ->

This.

Swim has read through the information at the hive, and has read that although the hive has been heavily modified it still is UBB.. to a point.

Can anyone help swim out with this problem?

User Picture       You need a database running, usually mySQL.

You need a database running, usually mySQL. You have to set up the username, password, and permissions for your database, and you have to tell your software the database server (localhost?), the username, and the password.

Swim has MySQL 4.1.7 running.

Username, Password and Permissions are all set.

All the information has been entered correctly, but it still wishes to Fail.

What about the connection (dbserver = 'localhost')?
The database server username (e.g. 'root') is NOT identical to the system username or to the system 'root'. Maybe you have to check the database username.

or behind a proxy? Do you have any programs to check NAT settings. if you have nortonIS or ZA, try turning it off and then run. just a thought. it looks like everything is going ok till your connection...

      Unknown Error

Everything seems to go right, even UBB believes that this is an unknown error. Lovely that.

Not being totally sure on the problem, swims computer is pretty antique.. Going to try upgrading it and then test it again.

But using every piece of information in all variations still hasn't proved successful unfortunately.

Thanks for any ideas though. They're all helpful.
